Seattle ยท Est. Family Recipe

Seattle,
we wrapped
the tradition
in corn.

Handmade tamales, stacked high and steamed slow โ€” made the way Mama Chavez taught, right here in the heart of the city.

Our Story

A recipe that
outlasted the oven.

Mama Chavez didn't write her recipes down โ€” she cooked by feel, by memory, by the rhythm of the kitchen. Every batch of masa, every pinch of salt, every wrap of the corn husk was passed on the old-fashioned way: by doing it together.

Today, that same care shows up on every plate at our spot on 2nd Avenue. We're proud to serve Seattle with tamales made the way they were always meant to be โ€” slow, honest, and full of heart.

"As someone who grew up eating abuela's tamales, I can say with confidence: Mama Chavez's gets it right. That's the flavor I remember โ€” nothing extra, just honest and delicious."
